WHO:
All “Excavation Equipment Operators” and “Supervisors” directing excavation activities shall be qualified when utilizing protective measures. OSHA defines qualified as “a person who, by possession of a recognized degree, certificate, or professional standing, or who by extensive knowledge, training, and experience, successfully demonstrates the ability to solve/resolve problems relating to the subject matter, the work, or the project.” This course is a best practice for any contractor involved in excavation activities as a standard scope of their work.
WHY:
This class is designed to provide a more detailed knowledge base for those employees who have intermediate experience with excavation and utility operations.
The curriculum for the Excavation and Utility Protection course is as follows:
OSHA requires that every site with a working excavation must have a “competent person” present who is trained in the hazards, implementation of protective systems, and corrective actions associated with earth work.
