Prior to attending college, Scott served in the United States military and is a retired honorable disabled veteran. Scott served 4.5 years in the United States Marine Corps as a small arms repair technician overseeing day to day operations of a weapons repair shop. Scott supervised 20 Marines who worked around the clock to maintain weapon readiness for combat-deploying Marines.
After Scott’s time in the United States Marine Corps, Scott spent 4 years in the United States Army working as a combat instructor. Scott played in a significate role in preparing National Guard personal for combat readiness in the most hostile environments.
After serving 8.5 years in the military, Scott attended Ivy Tech Community College and Purdue University School of Technology. During Scott’s time at Ivy Tech Community College he studied and graduated as an Industrial Electrician. Then, Scott transferred to Purdue University and graduated with a degree in Industrial Technology.
Scott began his safety career at Honda Manufacturing of Indiana where he was employed for 5.5 years. His first 3 years at Honda were spent in the Body Manufacturing Department, specializing in robotic safety, equipment risk assessments, equipment acceptance, confined space, fall protection, overheard crane operations, powered industrial trucks, hot work, accident investigation, and assisted in the implementation of environmental ISO 14001.
Once Scott moved into the Honda Manufacturing of Indiana’s Plant Safety Department, he was tasked with overseeing safety compliance and ergonomics plant wide. Scott became an expert in Fall Protection during this time and is a Qualified Fall Protection Systems Inspector. Scott was also the lead trainer for robotic safety, lockout/tagout, equipment risk assessments, confined space, fall protection, powered industrial trucks, hot work, accident investigation, and served on the front line leadership mentorship committee. Scott oversaw the implementation of the Process Safety Management process, which was new to the automotive industry at that time.
In 2017, Scott joined Safety Resources, Inc. as a Safety Consultant, and he represents several companies as a Contract Safety Director. Scott’s expertise is broad, covering General Contractor safety, Subcontractor safety, and General Industry Safety. Scott continues to build expertise in safety based on his real-world experiences to bring additional value to his portfolio of clients.
